The EzCode initiative by IDA aims to catalyse the use of 2D barcodes in Singapore. The initiative will provide a reference architecture for the deployment of 2D barcodes. This reference architecture shows how various components (reader, encoder, decoding platform) work together in an open but secure manner using internationally recognized standards*. This platform is intended for use by government bodies.

EzCode embraces the two most commonly used ISO standards for 2D barcodes, namely ISO/IEC 18004 and ISO/IEC 16022, in order to ensure greater compatibility with other markets. ISO/IEC 18004 is also known as QR Code originally developed by Denso wave, while ISO/EIC 16022 is known as Data Matrix originally developed by RVSI Acuity CiMatrix.
